Kraków ranked 2nd in the Water City Index 2021

During the International Congress entitled City - Water - Quality of Life held in Wrocław, prestigious statuettes were awarded to the winners of the 2021 Water City Index. Kraków was ranked second in the Metropolises category and the prize was collected by Piotr Zietara, President of the Management Board of Kraków Water.
 
The Water City Index broadly defines the strengths, weaknesses, needs and challenges of blue infrastructure management in Polish cities. It evaluates the development of metropolises, large and medium towns in terms of their efficiency of water resources management. This ranking is not only a valuable source of information for local authorities, researchers, experts and residents, but is also aimed at encouraging the development of common standards that will help manage water in cities more effectively and efficiently.
 
This year, the authors of the report analysed the total 218 Polish cities and towns in 4 areas and 15 evaluation categories. Kraków was recognized in the ranking of the metropolises, taking the second place behind Gdańsk but ahead of Wrocław. In the remaining categories, the results were as follows:
